This is a high quality reproduction of a drawing of the Marbled Electric Ray, or Torpedo Ray (Torpedo marmorata). It's electric organs can produce up to 80 volts and it uses electrical bursts to stun nearby prey. This image was drawn by Famed 19th century French naturalist and zoologist, Georges Cuvier, sometimes referred to as the "founding father of paleontology. It is part of his best know work, "Le Règne Animal" (The Animal World), a 4 volume set publish in 1816. Several of his drawing are featured here and could make a thoughtful set in your home or office.
